The Inland Waterways Association (IWA)

A registered charity, founded in 1946, which advocates the conservation, use, maintenance, restoration and development of the inland waterways for public benefit.

Residential Boat Owners' Association (RBOA)

Established in 1963 the Residential Boat Owners' Association is the only national organisation which exclusively represents and promotes the interests of people living on boats in the British Isles.

Dedicated to promoting the interests of private boaters on Britain's canals, rivers and lakes, so that their voice can be heard when decisions are being made which might affect their boating.

The British Waterways leisure website. It is packed with information about things to do and places to visit not only on and around the British Waterways network but on other rivers, canals, lakes and reservoirs.

There are many traders on the canal selling a diverse range of product from Cheese, Jewelery, Fudge to Cratch Covers, Boat Names and Embroidery.  The many trades afloat bring diversity and enhance the public’s enjoyment of the waterways – our aim is to promote and enhance our unique trading community.

Originally formed as a registered charity in 1968. In 2002 the Society was reconstituted as a Company Limited by Guarantee having a company number of 4306537 and a charity number 1091760. The Society’s original aims to conserve, improve and encourage a wide range of interests in the 100 mile network of the BCN.

Formed to protect and enhance the canals of the historic Shropshire Union system in England and Wales, and since 1968 it has been actively engaged in the restoration of the Montgomery Canal.
